Kaïamb Trio

This jazz trio came into being at the encounter of Michel Renault, classical bassist of the "Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse", Laurent Petit, who fell for big band music at an early age and played with Ornicar, and Vincent Choblet, for a long time already a student of traditional percussion in Africa, Brazil, the Caribbean Islands, especially Cuba, in their local contexts and their original form. The characteristic of the trio and our passion for jazz have determined our choice of "spicy" evergreens.

The Kaïamb

Instrument made of a wooden frame covered on two sides by stems of sugar cane flowers and filled with grains. It now gives rhythm to the "maloya" of the islands of Reunion and Mauritius.
